How Much Does a Hotel Chatbot Cost in 2026? Real Prices Compared

Ask most hotel chatbot vendors what they charge and you'll get "book a demo". That makes it hard to budget, and harder to compare.

This guide covers what hotel chatbots actually cost in 2026, how vendors structure their pricing, the hidden costs that turn a "from €99" plan into several hundred a month, and a simple way to work out whether the numbers make sense for your hotel.

Short answer: most independent hotels pay $150–$500 per month for an AI hotel chatbot, plus a one-off setup fee of $0–$700. Large hotels and groups with PMS integration and multiple channels often pay more.

The four ways hotel chatbots are priced

1. Flat monthly fee per property

You pay one price per hotel regardless of how many conversations it handles. It's the easiest to budget, and it's the model that suits most independent hotels.

2. Tiered by room count

The price steps up with property size (for example up to 100 rooms, 101–250, 250+). It's fairer to small hotels, since a 40-room property isn't paying the same as a 400-room resort.

3. Tiered by features

Basic, Pro and Premium plans unlock more features, typically generative AI, extra channels, PMS integration and request management. The catch is that the features most hotels want often sit in the top tier.

4. Usage-based (per conversation or message)

You pay per conversation, message or "AI credit". It can look cheap at first, but costs rise in high season, which is exactly when you need the chatbot most. It's hard to budget, and hard to explain to an owner.

Many vendors combine these, for example feature tiers plus a room-count multiplier plus a setup fee.

Real prices: vendors that publish them

Most hotel chatbot vendors don't publish prices. These two do. Prices were correct at the time of writing (September 2026).

Vendors that quote on request

Asksuite, Canary Technologies, Akia, Quicktext, Duve, Chatlyn and most others price by quote. Expect the final number to depend on room count, channels, integrations and contract length. Always ask for the total monthly price for your property, not the "from" price.

The hidden costs to ask about

These are what turn a cheap-looking plan into an expensive one.

1. Setup and onboarding fees. These range from free to several hundred dollars. Ask exactly what's included: does the vendor build your knowledge base, or do you?

2. Features locked in higher tiers. Guest request management, PMS integration and WhatsApp are commonly top-tier only. Price the tier with the features you actually need.

3. Per-message or AI credit charges. Ask: "What happens to my bill in a 95%-occupancy month?"

4. Channel fees. WhatsApp Business messages carry Meta's own per-conversation fees on top of the chatbot price. Ask who pays them.

5. Integration costs. Your PMS or booking engine provider may charge its own interface fee. That's separate from the chatbot vendor, so ask both sides.

6. Extra properties, languages or seats. Some vendors charge per staff user or per language. Check before you add the housekeeping team.

7. Contract length and cancellation. Annual contracts are cheaper but lock you in. Ask about notice periods and what happens to your data if you leave.

Is it worth it? A simple ROI check

You don't need a spreadsheet model. Answer three questions with your own numbers.

1. Front desk time saved How many routine calls and messages does your front desk handle a day, such as Wi-Fi, breakfast times, check-out, the pool and taxis? Multiply by the minutes each takes and by 30. If a chatbot answers even half of them, that's staff time back each month.

2. Extra in-stay revenue If the assistant promotes your restaurant, spa and experiences at the moment guests ask about dinner or activities, how many extra bookings a month would cover the fee? For a $249/month plan, that could be a handful of spa treatments or dinner covers.

3. Faster request handling Missed or slow requests, like the towel that never arrived or the AC that wasn't fixed, turn into review complaints. What's one fewer negative review a month worth to your ranking?

If the answer to any one of these clearly covers the monthly cost, the chatbot pays for itself.

What to pay for, and what you can skip

For most independent hotels:

Worth paying for

  • AI answers trained on your own hotel information
  • Replies in the guest's own language, switching per message
  • Guest request capture and routing to your team
  • In-stay upselling (F&B, spa, experiences)
  • No app for guests (QR code and web)

Often not needed

  • Deep PMS integration, if you're happy for bookings to go through your booking engine
  • Lots of channels at once. Start with website and in-room QR, then add others later
  • Campaign and marketing automation. Your email tool may already do this

Questions to ask every vendor about price

  1. "What's my total monthly price for {your room count} rooms, with request management and multilingual AI included?"
  2. "What's the setup fee, and what exactly do you set up?"
  3. "Are there per-message, per-conversation or AI credit charges?"
  4. "Who pays WhatsApp or other channel fees?"
  5. "Do I need a PMS integration to use the features I'm paying for? Does my PMS charge for it?"
  6. "What's the minimum contract, and what's the notice period?"

The bottom line

Budget $150–$500 a month plus a setup fee for a capable AI hotel chatbot. The cheapest headline price is rarely the cheapest real price, so compare total monthly cost for your room count with the features you actually need.

FAQ

How much does a hotel chatbot cost? Most independent hotels pay between $150 and $500 per month for an AI hotel chatbot, plus a one-off setup fee that ranges from free to around $700. Pricing usually depends on room count, features and channels.

Are there free hotel chatbots? Some general chatbot builders have free plans, but they aren't trained on hotel operations and usually lack request routing, multilingual AI and staff dashboards. Hotel-specific AI chatbots are almost always paid.

Why do hotel chatbot vendors hide their prices? Most price by quote because costs vary with room count, integrations and channels. It also lets vendors negotiate. Always ask for the total monthly price for your property, not the starting price.

Do hotel chatbots charge per message? Some do, through per-conversation or AI credit pricing. Others, including GuestLume, charge a flat monthly fee with no per-message charges for normal use. Ask how your bill changes in high season.

Is a hotel chatbot worth it for a small hotel? Usually, yes, if it answers routine guest questions, routes requests to staff and promotes in-stay services. If it saves front desk time or generates a few extra F&B or spa bookings a month, it typically covers its cost.
